Here is a very cool stromatolite specimen. This is a large Copperia tubiformis slab from the Precambrian of Australia. Authorities believe that stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae, or ''cyanobacteria''. This striking stromatolite has been estimated to be almost a billion years old! This slab displays well on both sides. The unique color patern is totally natural and makes for a great conversation piece. This is a large, distinct specimen of this strange stromatolite form from ''Down Under''.
