This is a very rare fossil association. It is a Bird Feather and MANY insects from the Green River Formation. Occasionally, complete insects were fossilized in the Green River Formation. But a swarn of bugs like this is extremely unusual. The feather is also quite distinct and has extremely fine detail preserved.  The fossils are well showcased on the large plate of shale. This is a very rare association of two different airborne animals from the Eocene.
