Fossil Bird Trackways Age: Eocene Formation: Green River Formation Location: Soldier Summit, Utah Size: Plate is 17.5 inches across! This specimen is not for sale Click here for similar specimens that are for sale
This is a very collectible plate of fossil trackways. These are fossil bird tracks from the Eocene of Utah. There are MANY trackways on this plate. These tracks were probably made by a Sandpiper-type bird. It is easy to envision birds walking along the shoreline of an ancient lake or pond - later this shoreline mud turned to stone. The tracks are clearly defined and well positioned on the very large, natural plate of shale. This is a museum quality specimen of fossil bird tracks from the Green River Formation.
