Here is a very rare vertebrate fossil. This is a complete Canine Tooth from the extinct Dire Wolf, Canis dirus. This fossil was found in the famous Pleistocene River Deposits of Florida. This location has not produced many nice specimens for a number of years now. The tooth is very well preserved and is fully free of matrix. The enamel of the tooth is very easily seen. The root of the tooth is fully intact, which is extremely unusual. This is a very collectible Dire Wolf canine from the classic Florida "Bone Beds" collecting site.
