Here is nice Mississippian echinoid from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry. The plate has a rare Archaeocidaris aliquantula echinoid preserved. The urchin is beautifully displayed with spines intact, which is quite unusual. The fossil has great color and contrast and is naturally positioned on the squared plate of limestone. This is a very uncommon echinoid from a classic locality that is now closed to collecting.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
