This is an extremely rare association fossil. It is a distinct Spider (Araneae) and fish from the Cretaceous of Brazil. Spiders from the Cretaceous are extremely rare - dinosaurs were still alive at this time! This specimen has the head, body, and hairy legs intact and easily seen. The fish is complete and has excellent bone structure preserved. Both fossils display beautifully on the large, unbroken plate of shale. A spider preserved on shale is rare, but one fossilized with a complete fish is almost unheard of.
