Here is an extremely rare fossil association from an unusual location. This is Cryptolithus bellulus (trilobite) and Heterocrinus sp. (crinoid) from Swatara Gap, Pennsylvania. This site is well-known for the Cryptolithus trilobites and the occasional starfish that is found, but does not have the reputation as a major crinoid-producing area. In fact, crinoid crowns from this location are quite rare. And associations with COMPLETE Cryptolithus are almost unheard of. The crinoid has fantastic detail - the individual arms are easily seen. The trilobite is inflated and well articulated (see arrow in the close-up photo). The orange fossil contrasts beautifully with the dark sandstone matrix. And, believe it or not, the counterpart of this fossil is included at no charge! This is a very collectible trilobite and crinoid plate from the classic Swatara Gap locality.
