This is a rare spiny trilobite. It is a large Odontopleura callicera from Perry County, Pennsylvania. This specimen is from the Onondaga Formation, where the classic US trilobite, Odontocephalus, is also found. This specimen was acquired from the Edward Books Collection in 1988, and was found well over 20 years ago. This specimen is complete, with the head, body and tail all intact. It is a lucky day indeed when one of these critters was unearthed! This is a good, complete example of a trilobite that most collectors have never even heard of.
