Location:  Valongo, Portugal

Specimen SSA632

This is a beautiful specimen of Dionide mareki from a classic European location - Valongo, Portugal. This rare Trinucleid trilobite is extremely large, very 3-D, and displays its LONG genal spines beautifully. The impressive trilobite has great detail, striking natural color, and is very well showcased on the large, natural matrix block. Usually, the trilobites from this locality are on very small pieces of matrix and are not very ''showy'' - this fossil is different, it has character! This specimen also comes with its original hand-printed label. This is a textbook specimen of this unusual spiny trilobite from Portugal.
