This is a very nice slab of trace fossils. These are fossil bird tracks from the Eocene of Utah. There are at least three complete tracks and several partial tracks on this plate. These tracks were possibly made by a sandpiper-type bird. It is very easy to see that a bird was walking along the shoreline of an ancient lake and later this mud turned to stone. The tracks are clearly defined and well positioned on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a fine specimen of fossil bird tracks from the Green River Formation.
