Due to their delicate nature, flowers are extremely rare in the fossil record. This is a very distinct specimen of a fossil flower from the Eocene of Utah. This unusual fossil is very well preserved and has great form. All four petals of the flower are beautifully displayed. The fossil flower has wonderful, totally natural color and contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. It is well centered on the large plate of shale. This is an excellent example of this four-petaled flower from the Green River Formation.
