Excellent Tropical Flower From The Eocene

Due to their delicate nature, flowers are very rare in the fossil record. Here is an excellent specimen of Astronium truncatum, a tropical flower, from the Green River Formation of Utah. This fossil flower exhibits wonderful detail - all five of the petals are beautifully displayed. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well positioned on the natural plate of shale. This is a stunning specimen of a rare and delicate fossil.
