Due to their delicate nature, flowers are very rare in the fossil record. Here is a specimen of Astronium truncatum, a tropical flower, from the Green River Formation of Colorado. The flower displays very nicely. All five petals of the flower are present. The fossil has great color and contrast. It is well positioned on a large plate of shale. This is a nice specimen of a rare and delicate fossil.
