This is a very uncommon fossil. It is a fossil flower from the Green River Formation of Utah. Flowers are extremely rare in the fossil record, due to their delicate nature. This specimen shows a side view of the flower. The petiole (stem) is clearly defined, and several petals are easily seen. This unique specimen also displays numerous stamens, which is very unusual. The flower has very good color and contrast and is well presented on the natural plate of shale. This is a very collectible example of a rare fossil flower from the Eocene of Utah.
